PASIGHAT, Nov 30: Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Mama Natung has called upon NGOs, CBOs of the state to play a key role in youth development of the state. Terming the youth of the state as the backbone of society, the Minister stressed on channelizing their potentials & energy through games & sports and various positive initiatives. He also highlighted  on “Drugs chodo, khel mein jodo”  campaign of the state government adding  sports is one of the positive mediums to wean the youth away from drug abuse.  
Minister Natung was addressing as the Chief Guest  at the opening ceremony of the maiden  “ Adi Sports Fest” (ASF)  2021 organised by the Adi Bane Kebang Youth Wing(ABKYW)  here  at CHF playground today. He lauded the initiative  of the ABKYW & also the support of the  elected representatives adding that our youths need such platform to discover and showcase their sporting talents. 
The Sports Minister also dwelt on the achievements made in the Khelo India events and other sporting events by the youth of the state adding that major push is being made by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu to promote sports sector. 
Natung, who is spearheading the airgun surrender movement in the state and advocating for protection & preservation of wildlife said  that the State Government with the support of the community & various stakeholders is  committed to make Arunachal Pradesh, the first Airgun free state in the country. Earlier, Guest of Honour,  Minister Health & Family Welfare, Alo Libang  also lauded the initiative of ABKYW for youth development through the first ever Adi Sports festival, where players of the Adi community have gathered under one platform from various districts ,adding that good sporting talents can be produced. He hoped that such platform also help youth to imbibe discipline, teamwork and healthy lifestyle.

ABKYW President Joluk Minung, throwing light on objectives of organizing the  Adi Sports Festival(ASF)  said that one of the key causes towards the efforts for a drug free state with the motto of “Say no to Drugs”, the sports meet also aims to develop leadership, unity  other values to make them responsible citizens of society .
ABKYW General Secretary, Jote Mingki, accorded warm welcome to the dignitaries, players  and the gathering on the occasion.
MLAs, Ninong Ering, Kaling Moyong, President Adi Bane Kebang (ABK), Getom Borang among others attended the inaugural ceremony. DIPRO
