ITANAGAR, Sep 24: Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs Mama Natung flagged off the ‘Fit India Freedom Run 2.0’ organized by the state unit Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) at Akashdeep, Itanagar here on Friday.
At least a hundred volunteers from NYKS and NSS including the Minister took part in the run covering a distance of 2 kms from Akashdeep to Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar.
Natung, who took part in the run appealed youths to participate in the ‘Fit India Freedom Run 2.0’, and also to stay away from drugs and involve in sports activities.
Responding to a query on the Yumi Sorang case, he said that some procedural lapses in the sports department had led to such an unfortunate incident.
The concerned department has requested the state government for re-evaluation of the procedure, he informed, adding, the case is under SIC investigation.
Meanwhile, state NYKS Director Inkhuang Uang said that the run aimed to promote fitness and celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence which has been happening across India and will come to a close on October 2 next.
