ITANAGAR, Nov 7: Minister Environment & Forest, Mama Natung visited the Van Vigyan Kendra, the State Forest Research Institute at Chessa under DFO Silviculture of Papum Pare district along with Principal Chief Conservator of Forest R K Singh,  Chairman Arunachal Pradesh Bamboo Resource Development Agency, Tungri Effa and Arunachal Pradesh State Medical Plant Board Chairperson Karya Bagang and host of other officials  to take stock of activities carried out in the research centre.  
Natung visited the nursery, green house, mist chamber, bamboo setum, clonal seed orchard, preservation plot and important bamboo species conservation site.  
The minister also inspected other developmental projects going at Chessa. Chessa is the lone research centre in Northeast and Setum Bamboo is first of its kind being preserved at the research centre. Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of his maiden visit after being taking charge of the department he said, “I am taking stock of all research and plantation centres, beginning from Chessa to know the ground reality. I will also visit Orchid Sanctuary at Tipi and other important wildlife sanctuaries in eastern Arunachal too. Unless, I visit the ground, we will not be able to know the reality."
Stressing the significance of saving wild life and the forest, Natung said “rigorous campaign and awareness need to be created at village level to save wildlife and forest”. He asserted that he would soon launch a campaign to create awareness on importance of forest and its impact on climate change. 
Natung informed that he would engage the department  officials to ensure the campaign be launched effectively to save flora and fauna. However, in order to achieve the goal, panchayat leaders, youths and all stake holders need to support the government and the department. He also exhorted that the environment and  forest department also needs to carry out awareness so that people are aware about the impact of deforestation and other climatic impact.
