GUWAHATI, Nov 18: Minister for Environment & Forests Mama Natung today attended the closing ceremony of the 5th edition of the North East Green Summit here which focussed on ‘Corona Bio-Disaster Aftermath: Sustainable Yardsticks to Save our Planet’.
Stressing on the participation of CBOs, NGOs, youths and common people at grassroots level in conservation of nature, Natung highlighted the initiatives being taken by the Arunachal government in promotion and cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants for livelihood generation. He informed that 12500 acres of land will be used for the purpose in next 3 years.
Minister, DoNER Dr Jitender Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan, Country Representative, IUCN India Dr Vivek Saxena and Director, NIT Silchar Professor Shivaji Bandyopadhyay joined the summit virtually. Organised by Vibgyor NE Foundation in collaboration with IIT Guwahati, the NE Green Summit is an amalgamation of art, music and brainstorming on environment, celebrated annually.
