PASIGHAT, Oct 7: The National Wildlife Week was observed with enthusiasm at the Namsing village community hall on Tuesday under Mebo Sub-Division by the Kotga Gora Committee (KGC) representing the Namsing, Mer and Paglam villages of East Siang and Lower Dibang valley districts.
The celebration was organized for creating awareness among people to protect wildlife and secure elephant corridors for wild elephants migrating from the Dibru-Saikhowa National Park in Assam to the D. Ering Wildlife Sanctuary and vice versa. The attendees from the three villages were advised to work for conservation efforts such as planting more trees etc.
Chairman, KGC Gumin Tayeng, WTI Jt. Director Sunil Kyarong, Circle Officer, Namsing Group Captain (Retd.) Mohonto Pangging deliberated on the need for wildlife protection. Pressure cookers, dragon light torches etc. were distributed to the GBs and forest staff for wildlife protection works.
Wildlife Officials of DEWS, Pasighat Territorial Forest Division and Wildlife Trust of India were among others present on the occasion.
