RONO HILLS, Aug 18: A two-day national webinar titled ‘Promoting Career Prospects in the Field of Psychology’ organized by Rajiv Gandhi University’s Department of Psychology in collaboration with the Psychosocial Support Group, Arunachal Pradesh commenced here on Tuesday.
RGU Vice Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha while exhorting the participants to view the challenges thrown by Covid-19 pandemic as opportunities, emphasised on maintaining dynamism in life. Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Amitava Mitra defined the concept of career counselling and the subject of Psychology highlighting the career prospects. Registrar Professor Tomo Riba underlined the role and importance of psychologists at the backdrop of increasing mental health crisis in society due to the pandemic.
During the day’s first technical session, Career Counsellor and visiting Faculty at Aditi Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi Aakanksha Bhatia discussed the topic ‘Career Pathways in Psychology’ extensively. In the second technical session, Counselling Psychologist and Founder-Director at Tailwinds Organization Pune Vibha Deshpande spoke on ‘Developing Career as a Counselling Psychologist/Psychotherapist’ with a special part on the significance of tele counselling during pandemic.
More than 400 participants attended the webinar via Google Meet Hangout and Facebook Live. Its Co-coordinator Leeyir Ete expressed gratitude to the VC, PVC, Registrar and Professor Kesang Degi for their continued support and motivation and lauded the organizers for the conceptualization part.
