RONO HILLS, Aug 20: A 2-day national webinar on ‘National Education Policy (NEP) 2020- A Way Forward’ organized by the Department of Education, Rajiv Gandhi University commenced here on Thursday.
Chief Guest and Chairman, UGC Professor Dhirendra Pal Singh termed NEP-2020 as a historic step for transforming the Indian education system, both school and higher education and stressed on its significance with regard to multidisciplinary education, flexibility, radical reforms in curriculum, internationalization and sustainable development. While stating that research, teaching, collaboration and faculty-student exchange with high quality foreign institutions will be facilitated through NEP-2020, he added that high-performing Indian universities will also be encouraged to set up campuses abroad.
Stating that the webinar is 40th of the series and one of the biggest so far, RGU VC Professor Saket Kushwaha said NEP-2020 could transform India as an equitable and vibrant knowledge society. There were three technical sessions on the inaugural day where Vice Chancellor, NIEPA, New Delhi Professor N.V.Varghese, Senior Advisor, UIC, NIEPA Professor Ramachandra and Professor S.M. Sungoh from the Department of Education, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong were the speakers.
