ITANAGAR, Sep 26: Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) in collaboration with Delhi, Punjab and Manipur State Legal Services Authorities and other institutions on Saturday organised a national webinar on ‘Domestic Violence Against Women’ which was participated by a large number of judicial officers, legal aid counsels and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) across the state.
Member Secretary, APSLSA Jaweplu Chai as Guest Speaker spoke on polygamy and domestic violence resulting out of it faced by the state’s women. She also talked about the importance of marriage registration and steps taken by APSLSA to eradicate all forms of domestic violence. Former Supreme Court judge Justice Gyan Sudha Misra spoke on the types of domestic violence and emphasized on the need for faster delivery of justice to victims. Among others, speakers such as District & Session Judge and Member Secretary, Manipur State Legal Services Authority Gaiphulshilu Golmei, Additional District & Sessions Judge and Additional Secretary, Delhi State Legal Services Authority Namrita Aggrawal and Member, National Commission for Women Dr. Rajulben Desai discussed various points of the topic.
The webinar was streamed live on Facebook and YouTube wherein besides judicial officers, legal aid counsels and PLVs, various NGOs, faculties and students of colleges and universities from across the country participated. APSLSA PR
