ITANAGAR, Oct 1: The National Voluntary Blood Donation Day this year was organized by the State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC)in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society(APSACS) & Indian Red Cross Society(IRCS), Arunachal branch.
The winners of the online speech and oration competition on "Voluntary Blood Donation" were declared with attractive cash prizes and certificates. Riknya Kamcham, Nang Lisa Manpang and Rose Mary Bam were declared 1st,2nd & 3rd respectively.
DD, SBTC. Dr.Joram Khopey spoke about the blood service in the state. During his welcome and key note address, he specified the various developments in blood bank equipments and emphasized the act of voluntary blood donation as an altruistic deed.
Dr.M.Lego lauded the role of voluntary blood donors and asked them to carry forward the noble service and contribute to blood service.
Chief Guest, DC Capital Talo Potom, urged everyone to be aware of the importance of voluntary blood donation and appealed the youths and educational institutions to organise Blood Donation camps. He also applauded the development in Blood Transfusion Service in the state.

Individuals and Organisations who have shown exemplary service in the field of voluntary  blood donation were felicitated on this day.
Thomas Bagang,Pura Nado,Nyami Doji,Tapo Ngute Gunsar,Dikno Romin,Oie Jerang,Marto Ronya,Marge Kamnyi,Terchi Gapak,Paktik Ronya,Yaken Digiam were  felicitated.
Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donor Organization ( Aalo),NSS unit,NERIST,NSS unit,SFS College,Aalo,Vihangam Yoga Sansthan, Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha,Tanw Supum Dukum (TSD),All East Kameng Capital Students Union,Adi Bane Kebang Youth Wings,Apatani Students Union,Galo Welfare Society,NSS unit,VK college of Teacher's Educational,Nirjuli,Magic Club Arunachal group, Arunachal Electronic and Digital Media Association (AEDMA),Home Makers (only ladies) group were felicitated for their contribution to Voluntary Blood Donation Camps.
Dr.Tashi Paleng,BBO TRIHMS,Dr.Rijum Tasso Karbak,GH Aalo,Backstar Sohbar(LT),BPGH, Pasighat,Kago Tayo(LT),GTGH,Ziro,Maya Nath, Nursing officer,TRIHMS, Ira Das Gupta,RKMH were also felicitated.
SBTC& APSACS also launched their official website on the day.
The NVBDD was held with a good number of formal gathering at DK State Convention (Pare) hall, Itanagar complying to the SOPs laid down by the state government.  Good numbers of voluntary blood donors turned up to donate blood.
 The occasion is marked  to salute and thank  voluntary blood  donors for their life saving gift of blood.The day is being observed to raise awareness on the need for regular blood donations to ensure the quality,safety and availability of blood and blood products for patients in need.
