ITANAGAR, Nov 27: The National School of Drama (NSD)’s Theatre-in-Education Company (Sanskaar Rang Toli) is on a weeklong tour of Arunachal Pradesh to perform theatre plays for children. The plays titled, Gumnam Siitare and Qisse Soojh Boojh Ke, will be performed in Namsai, Roing and Likabali.
In a press conference NSD’s TIE Chief cum Assistant Professor, Riken Ngomle on Sunday informed that at Namsai the plays would be performed from December 1-4 next and at Roing on from 5-6th December and at Likabali on December 8 and 9 next.
Professional artists from NSD would be performing in the plays.
“Reason why we brought theatre play to Arunachal is for our people to know that theatre is not only a means of entertainment but children can be taught easily. We will conduct workshops and awareness through theatre,” he said.
The state government is helping us in making these plays possible, Riken said.
The play tittle ‘Gumnam Siitare (Unsung Heroes)” is being written and directed by Dr Suwarn Rawat, is about the unsung heroes or freedom fighters whose sacrifices and struggles did get due recognition, while Qisse Soojh Boojh Ke’ designed and directed by Bansi Kaul, is anecdotes of moral education given to children.
