Hawai, Oct 6: The District Level Awareness Programme on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2020’ was launched at Samdul village in Anjaw district by Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan on October 1 last.
SP Habung Hailyang, HGBs/GBs, youths of Hawai Circle and representatives of CALSOM, Women’s Welfare Society and student union leaders were among others who attended the launch ceremony. DC explained the ill-effects of opium consumption and SP detailed the offences and penalties for its cultivation and consumption under NDPS Act. Circle officer, Hawai informed villagers about the fine/imprisonment provisions for illegal poppy cultivation and the government instructions thereto.
He further informed that anyone violating the instructions shall not be considered for any of the government welfare/beneficiary schemes. DC PR
