NAMSAI, Jul 8: Namsai Police on Wednesday arrested a 21-year-old habitual burglar on charges of stealing valuables from the residence of the Circle Officer, Piyong.
Speaking to the media, Inspector Tashi Yangi informed that Namsai Police had received numerous complaints about burglaries recently and the Circle Officer Piyong on June 28 last informed about the burglary in her residence. A police team led by Lady Sub-inspector NK Khen was activated and during investigating a T-shirt proved to be a solid clue that finally led to the arrest of the culprit, Chow Abo Manlai (21) of Wingko village under Piyong Circle in Namsai district. A case No. 41/2021 U/S 475/380 IPC has been registered against him. 6 batteries, 3 bicycles, 4 LPG cylinders, a monitor, 2 inverters, 3 TVs, 2 motor pumps and other items have been recovered, the Inspector informed, adding that five people in connection with the case have been arrested.
“The increasing cases of burglary are probably due to our effective action against drug menace in Namsai district. Such habitual offenders and drug peddlers must have a nexus to divert our attention,” Inspector Yangi stated while appealing to people to install CCTVs in their residences, shops and places needing a vigil.
