NAMSAI, Apr 12: Responding to the report of police brutality meted out to a daily wage earner at Namsai during the ongoing lockdown, Deputy Commissioner Namsai Bijoy Talukdar provided essential items including rice and vegetables as well as cash amounting to Rs 10,000 as an immediate relief to the victim.
On 7th April last, the police on duty during lockdown brutally assaulted the 50-year-old daily wage earner which left his left arm fractured while he was on his way to get medicine from a pharmacy near the Namsai bazaar.
On behalf of the administration, District Food & Civil Supply Officer, Dilip Manchey handed over the relief materials to the victim.
As per the report, DIGP has already marked the incident for departmental inquiry against the security personnel involved in the incident but till date no action has been taken against the person involved in the brutality.
