JAIRAMPUR, Feb 22: A training programme on ‘Food Processing and Bakery’ for the SHGs of Jairampur in Changlang district under the Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) was inaugurated on Monday.
The programme is sponsored by the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) and implemented by NGO, Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCT). A total of 30 members from different SHGs of the Jairampur township area have enrolled for the training. Attending the event as Chief Guest, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ibom Tao advised the SHG members to implement the skill while venturing into entrepreneurship. Highlighting the demand for quality baked items in the local market, he suggested establishing a bakery unit in Jairampur. DDM, NABARD Kamal Roy briefed on the MEDP which aims to benefit the rural women and SHGs. MEDPs are on-location skill development training programmes which attempt to bridge the skill deficits and facilitate optimization of production activities already pursued by the SHG members, he said, asserting that it will also boost the 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat' and ‘Vocal for Local’ objectives.
Among others, Founder President, Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust Chandan Prasad and CEO NOSAAP Athina Chowhai spoke on the occasion.
