NAHARLAGUN Aug 7: A multidisciplinary book on breastfeeding “ Breastfeeding – The art & science of Lactation” was unveiled internationally on the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week today at Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS).
Dr Moji Jini, Director, TRIHMS is the Chairman of the Scientific Committee and Author of the epilogue: Breast Feeding Practice in Arunachal and Dr. Amrita Sarkar, Asst Professor TRIHMS is the Editor cum author of the chapter – Kangaroo Mothercare and Dr. Nani Tago, Asst. Professor TRIHMS is the author of the chapter 'Milk Substitute Act'.
The book has contributors from various fields: public health professionals, pediatricians, obstetricians and gynecologists, specialist nurses, nutritionists, sleep coaches and lactation professionals to put across various perspectives and knowledge and experiences from various fields. This book is probably the first book in India which is dedicated to only breastfeeding and is completely evidence-based (based on scientific facts and researches). It will not only act as a reference for undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing students, lactation professionals, doctors and nurses but since written in easy language, it may act as a guide to mothers who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
