PASIGHAT, Nov 3: The two-day Multi-Lingual Writers’ Meet concluded successfully here at the campus of the College of Horticulture & Forestry on Sunday. 
Secretary Sahitya Akademi, Dr. K. Sreenivasarao said that the warm response from the people of Pasighat will encourage them to organize such event in other parts of Arunachal Pradesh in future too. The highlights of the day included short story session chaired by Odia writer Gourahari, Assamese writer Jahnavi Gogoi, Rajasthani writer Arjun Deo Charan, Mohonto Panging from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipuri writer Nabakumar Nongmeikapam and Tamil writer S. Venugopal. The other session “ Poets’ Meet”  chaired by Arjun Deo Charan had poetry readings in  native and tribal languages and their translated versions in Hindi and English, presented by  Bodong Yirang & Ponung Ering Angu in Adi, Inumomoni Das in Assamese, Sutapa Sengupta in Bengali, Taro Sindik  in Hindi and B.R. Lakshmana Rao in Kannada.

Later, the participating writers and their team also visited Siluk village, the birthplace   of literary luminary from Arunachal, Lummer Dai and paid homage to his statue. The meet has also provided platform to showcase native, tribal and Indian literature by the young generation writers and poets. It was held under the aegis of Sahitya Akademi in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society, Itanagar and Central Agricultural University, Imphal. Book exhibition & sale by Sahitya Akademi was also organized.DIPRO
