Dehradun, Dec 14: The penultimate day of the 9th edition of the ongoing Sustainable Mountain Development Summit here in the Uttarakhand capital on Sunday covered the topic of ‘Co-creating Resilient Mountain Solutions through partnerships: Accelerating collaborative efforts’ followed by the Mountain Legislators’ meet.
The above topic focused on the outcome of previous sessions and the financial pool the states could explore for funding forest conservation, carbon footprint reduction, boosting ecosystem services, creating organic green future etc. Discussing the creation of digital jobs for the Himalayan states, the experts opined that considerable amount of content, music and tourism can be generated from the region if the states focus on developing tech tourism.
The Mountain Legislators’ meet saw virtual participation 40 MPs and MLAs from the 9 Himalayan states, 2 UTs and hill districts to deliberate on key policy issues. Keeping COVID-19 as a focus topic, the speakers discussed health and vaccination issues along with employment and green recovery. The legislators tabled questions on the role of organic diet in treating COVID-19 and exploring medicinal plants from the Himalayas to battle the pandemic. 
They stressed on keeping sustainable development as the principal focus along with equal importance to inclusive growth. IMI PR
