ITANAGAR, Nov 30: The 9th edition of the annual Sustainable Mountain Development Summit (SMDS) will be held from December 11-14 and the 3rd Indian Himalayan Youth Summit (IYHS) on December 8-9, both through virtual modes from Dehradun, to be organised by the Integrated Mountain Initiative (IMI).
A host of eminent speakers and delegates from all the 10 mountain states including Arunachal Pradesh, 2 UTs and  two hill districts of West Bengal will participate in the above summits having the broader theme ‘Emerging Pathways for Building a resilient Post COVID19 Mountain Economy-Adaptation, Innovation and Acceleration’. Policy makers, think-tanks, government representatives, experts, academicians, practitioners, NGOs and students will also participate in the summits and discussion will centre around the pandemic and vaccine availability and the future of tourism in the mountains. Winners of the Himalayan Photography Contest 2020 and Dr. RS Tolia Memorial Award 2020 will also be announced. 
It is relevant to mention that the IMI has been working relentlessly for ushering in sustainable development in the Indian Himalayan region for the past ten years and has influenced policy makers on vital issues facing the mountains.
