Lumla, Oct 20: With the objective of creating health consciousness among denizens in line with the Fit India Movement, 27 Mountain Terrain Bikes (MTBs) were distributed to the interested locals of Lumla constituency on Tuesday here in a small function by the Tawang District Olympic Association President and Lumla MLA Jambey Tashi.
Addressing the function which had the themes 'Fit India Movement' and 'Say No to Drugs', Tashi underscored the importance of bicycles as a solution for rising global warming, checking air pollution and protecting the environment. The MLA who is also a member of the BJP National Minority Morcha called on the participants to spread awareness on the ill effects of drugs and appealed the youths not to fall prey to the menace. State BJP Minority Morcha President Pema Ngawang and Lumla ADC RD Thungon also spoke on the occasion.
Later, Tashi spearheaded the cycling expedition through the township to propagate the Fit India Movement. It can be recalled that the Lumla legislator in 2019 distributed 9 MTBs for promoting cycle as an eco-friendly medium of transport.
Tawang District Olympic Association Vice President Namgey Tsering accompanied Tashi in the event.
