KHARSANG, Dec 29: MLA Bordumsa - Diyun Somlung Mossang launched the Tangsa Script Calendar here today in resence of members of Tangsa Script Development Committee (TSDC), PRI leaders and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA appreciated the TSDC for its effort to create awareness on the importance of local dialects in society. "With such initiative, we can preserve our age-old tradition of counting days and months," he said appealing to the young generation to give due importance to the preservation of their own local dialects as well as culture & tradition. Earlier, Vice President TSDC, Kamjai Taism informed that the Committee was formed in 2019 but the Tangsa script was founded way back in 1990 by late Lakhum Jogka Mossang. He was a pioneer, who in his time founded the script after noting the significance of local dialects, customs, and traditions, he said.
“We are also working to introduce Tangsa script in schools across Changlang district, so that locals can learn about its history and continue the legacy of speaking indigenous dialects," added Taism.
