Longding, Jan 6: The mortal remains of martyred Rifleman Longdon Wangsu of 16 Assam Rifles was airlifted from Imphal and brought to his hometown Longding today.  The mortal remains was formally received by the 40 Assam Rifles based at Longding. Public thronged in large numbers at the general ground Longding to bid farewell to the martyred son of the soil. 
Rifleman Longdon Wangsu  of 16 Assam Rifles from Arunachal Pradesh was killed in the IED explosion which was carried out by militants in Thoubal district of Manipur on Wednesday. The blasts took place when troops of the 16 battalion of the Assam Rifles were patrolling in the hilly area of the southern part of the state and few para-military soldiers were resting near a water supply pump.
Thirty-year-old Rifleman L Wangsu from Arunachal Pradesh died on the sport after the explosion, while 28-year-old Pinku Das from Tripura suffered injuries. He was shifted to a nearby hospital.
All the three elected representatives of Longding District, Honchun Ngandam, Minister RWD & Science and Technology, Gabriel D Wangsu MLA 58-Kanubari Assembly Constituency, Tanpho Wangnaw MLA 59-Longding-Pumao assembly constituency, Dakli Gara, in-charge Deputy Commissioner,  Vikram Hari Mohan Meena SP,  Longding, among others paid their last respects.
The braveheart's final rites with full military honour will be conducted at his native village Niausa on January  7. With DIPRO Inputs
