NAHARLAGUN, Dec 29: Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY), the free health insurance scheme launched in 2018 by the state government has till date benefitted at least 5115 people of the state.
This was informed today by Chief Executive Officer-CMAAY, Dr. Nabam Peter. Giving the details of the scheme, he divulged that as of now at least 95,082 families have registered for CMAAY which implies that at least 4,14,000 lives have been covered.
“The scheme covers around 1597 different kinds of diseases including surgeries and the list can be added as and when required. We have an option for an unspecified package and while no one can be denied, patients have to inform the authority,” the CEO stated.
When asked about the list of hospitals empanelled under CMAAY, Dr Peter informed that almost all the district hospitals including TRIHMS and RK Mission are in the list. Moreover, we are trying to cover the PHCs where doctors are available so that people can avail the benefits at village level too, he added.
“We all know that our people travel outside the state for better healthcare. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Health Minister Alo Libang and Secretary Health P Parthiban, hospitals like CMC Vellore, GNRC Guwahati and a few others in Dibrugarh like Srishti, Aditya, Sanjivni has been empanelled. Formalities for including NEIGRIHMS Shillong is almost complete and it will functionalized from January 2021. Efforts are also on to empanel Apollo Hospitals in Guwahati, Delhi and Chennai,” Dr. Peter informed.
While appealing the state’s people to register their families under CMAAY through its portal www.cmaay.com, Arogya Arunachal mobile app or through the Kiosk centres in the districts, Dr Peter informed that it is illegal if any empanelled hospital authority seeks cash from patients. Any of the registered family members can use the five lakh insurance coverage in a year and in the next year it will be credited again, he said, urging the NGOs, student organizations and others to create awareness about the scheme so that maximum people can get its benefits.
It can be recalled that after bringing alterations to the Chief Minister Universal Health Insurance Scheme (CMUHIS), the state government made some modifications and restarted it with the new name of Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY) in line with the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY) where every family in the state will get an health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh annually.
