LONGDING, Feb 15: The two-day mock exercise on earthquake scenario by a team of 12 BN National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Itanagar under the guidance of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) concluded today here at the district headquarters.
On the first day a ‘Table Top’ exercise was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Longding which involved a meeting with all members of the District Disaster Management Authority, Incident Response Team and other related departments. As part of the demonstration eight victims stranded after earthquake were rescued by various techniques like by cutting, using rope and through surface. The exercise also showcased the dos and don’ts to be observed by common people and students during an earthquake scenario. MLA Longding Tanpho Wangnaw, Deputy Commissioner Bani Lego, DDMO and other officials were present on the occasion. Stating that Arunachal Pradesh is prone to earthquakes and other disasters, the DC emphasized on the need for staying prepared for any eventuality.
The mock exercise concluded with a demonstration on making improvised stretchers using local resources like jackets, sweaters, rice sacks and blankets. DIPRO
