Indian Army conducts ‘Know Your Army’ outreach
BOLENG, Apr 29: Pangin-Boleng MLA Ojing Tasing accompanied by the PRI members, officials of WRD Pangin Division and villagers of Riga on Wednesday visited the Gueng Lake Water Conservation Project in Siang district.
While seeking community participation in making the project successful which has been funded by the state government, Tasing appealed to the villagers to preserve the area’s greenery. “Gueng Lake which is situated around 1200 meter above sea level can be a great tourist destination if properly developed and therefore quality of works should not be compromised,” he said. Siang district BJP president Tapang Tamut who accompanied the MLA said it’s high time for the locals to tap the area's natural resources and develop fisheries and requested the villagers to display proper route directions to enable visitors to reach the spot in a hassle-free way. Reiterating the cultural and eco-tourism potential of Riga, he requested the villagers to provide the best hospitality services to attract more tourists. Pangin Division WRD EE Debaang Tayeng informed the project has been conceptualized to secure drinking water and for irrigation and tourism purposes. A plantation drive was also organised in the vicinity of the lake.
