PASIGHAT, Jun 25: With the objective of introducing a sustainable waste management system in Pasighat, local MLA Kaling Moyong today launched the distribution drive of garbage bags, bio-degradable poly bags and colour-coded dustbins for denizens, here at the office of the Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC).
The PMC aims to fulfill the aim through segregation of waste at each household and door-to-door collection of waste. Councillors of respective wards received the items from the MLA who expressed confidence that the dedicated team of the PMC comprising the Chief Councillor, Deputy Chief Councillor and the team of Councillors will successfully implement the mission. DC-cum-Municipal Executive Officer (MEO) Dr. Kinny Singh informed that the initiative is an effort to strive for adopting zero-waste, recycling and proper segregation of household waste by each household. Highlighting the benefits of waste segregation, she added that it will help in source reduction of wastes, with wet wastes going for composting at four designated plants in Jarkong area or can be composted for manure at household level. Recyclable waste sorted in garbage with printed numbers will be collected for onward recycling. Chief Councillor Okiam Moyong Borang and Deputy Chief Councillor Rebecca Panyang Megu extended their gratitude to all stakeholders.
