ITANAGAR, Jul 30:  Shortage of subject teachers in government run schools is becoming an  endemic issue  across the state. Appalled by scarcity of subject teachers in government higher secondary school Chayang Tajo, local MLA Hayeng Mangfi  has initiated recruitment of  three contractual  post graduate teachers(PGT) for Geography, Economics and History subjects.
The walk-in-interview(recruitment) was conducted today at a city hotel in which three PGT  candidates namely   Madumita Degio, Biri Yama and Atbyak Pertin were selected.  The walk- in -interview was conducted by the interview board  headed by  Principal Govt. higher secondary school Chayang Tajo, Toni Pertin,  assisted by  Assistant Professor Geography Dera Natung Government College Itanagar, Devadhar Sangdo, senior journalist  Amar Sangno and PRO to the MLA, Karbia Tungi.
MLA Mangfi had floated an advertisement on 13th July inviting  post graduate candidates with Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree holders for the school in remote ADC headquarter of East Kameng district.   The salary of the recruited teachers would be managed from MLA, local area development(MLALAD) funds.  Apart from the renumeration of Rs 30000, the teachers would be provided 15 kg rice and 2 kg pulse will be provided.
Mangfi informed that idea of recruiting contractual teachers  is a stop gap arrangement to bridge the gap of  government recruited teacher shortage and also to put a halt on mass rural migration in search of better education and health facilities.
“Immediate need of subject teachers in  schools cannot be put on hold till the government's recruitment process is done. MLA LAD  would be used as  stop gap arrangement fund; it is wise to use in such purpose,”  he added.
