TALIHA, Feb 13: Chief Minister Pema Khandu attended a public meeting today here at Kodak village with the locals of Taliha Assembly Constituency in presence of Union Minister of State (Independent) for Sports & Youth Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Tourism Minister Nakap Nalo, MLAs of Taliha-Nyato Rigia, Dumporijo-Rode Bui and Daporijo-Tanya Soki.
Chief Minister while urging the people of Upper Subansiri district to cooperate with the government in development process, said that due to compensation issues many important road projects in the district are pending, specifically mentioning that smooth connectivity to Itanagar and construction of road from Taliha to Tato are being delayed due to this factor. He said people of Western Arunachal should learn from their eastern counterparts where development is prioritized over compensation seeking and lauded the community apex bodies for being effective in solving compensation issues and in convincing people to not hamper development through such demands.
Community apex bodies in Western Arunachal can also play effective role in expediting development process, CM opined, adding that state government always rely upon them for assistance in development. He further said Arunachal has huge potential in hydro, agriculture, mines and mineral sectors which couldn’t be utilized fully due to own weaknesses in overcoming shortcomings in policy decisions, bureaucracy and in exerting political will and sought cooperation from MLAs and government officers in realizing the state’s full potential.
Requesting the local MLAs to prioritise schemes, Khandu called for a robust planning process and informed that MLA funds will be increased to boost up development in constituencies. Responding to public demand, he assured a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Upper Subansiri district and stated that state government will also take up the matter relating to expediting of Tato-Taliha road construction by BRO.
While mentioning that an all-party meeting will be called soon to decide the issue whether the upcoming panchayat election can be fought on non-party basis, Chief Minister said that decision will be taken as per outcome of the said meeting. CMO
