PASIGHAT, Sep 11: With the aim of making the Mebo township greener and cleaner, MLA 39th Mebo AC-cum-Chairperson-District Development Committee-East Siang, Lombo Tayeng today started an avenue plantation programme in Mebo township area.
The plantation drive began from the premises of Government Higher Secondary School, Mebo and more than 300 saplings of fruit-bearing and ornamental plants were planted in and around the school. Initiating the programme which is being collaborated by the Pasighat Forest Division, Tayeng underscored the need for planting trees for conservation of Mother Nature and exhorted the youths and student leaders of the Adi Students’ Union to come forward in the effort. “The lockdowns and Covid-19 pandemic have taught us to be more close to Mother Nature and I hope the general public, especially the youths will plant more trees along the roadside and office premises not only for beautification of the township, but also for cleaner air,” Tayeng added.
The plantation programme was joined by Divisional Forest Officer (T) Tashi Mize, ADC Mebo Bani Lego, senior public leader Nakmin Perme and others. President, AdiSU (Apex) Nang Gao along with the union’s executive members also actively participated.
