ITANAGAR, Sep 19: Tali MLA Jikke Tako along with the additional deputy commissioner and PWD officials visited the collapsed bridge over the Kumey river on Tuesday.
The bailey suspension bridge which was the lifeline of the Tali assembly constituency collapsed following a landslide triggered by rainfall on September 17.
The MLA said that though inquiry on how the bridge collapsed would be undertaken but their main target is to restore the bridge at the earliest. He said that this incident has delayed the initiatives under the “go back to Tali policy”.
Informing that the fund for the new bridge will “hopefully” be sanctioned on priority basis under chief minister Pema Khandu, Tako said that it is the technical aspect involved in the bridge which is of the main concern.
He also expressed concern over the feasibility of the proposed CM’s visit to the constituency by road on November but was hopeful that everything will be sorted out at the earliest.
As temporary measure, the MLA informed that the administration will coordinate with the local population for construction of a foot suspension bridge.
