PANGIN, Dec 24: With the aim of ascertaining the alignment of the proposed road construction from Kebang Radha to Kebang Sole village via Kebang Bangku (old Kebang), Pangin MLA Ojing Tasing on Monday last trekked for around 5 hours accompanied by Siang DC Rajeev Takuk and other HoDs.
Bangku is a valley located atop the Dokong mountain where the people of Kebang village had migrated since ages. It was also the village where the British set fire on the houses of villagers as a consequence of the 4th and last Anglo-Abor War. While stating the historical importance of Kebang Bangku and its need for re-development, Tasing assured to develop the place from his end and contribute an amount of Rs 3 crore from his MLALAD Fund during next financial year and asked all HoDs to initiate proper planning in this regard. He also called for maintaining the quality of works for better development of the area. While acknowledging the agri/horti and tourism potential of the area, the MLA stressed for upliftment of the unemployed youths through sustainable livelihoods. DC expressed serious concern over the poor condition of the historic Radha Dere (community hall) and called for its immediate reconstruction. Further, Takuk asked the government officials to work in close coordination with each other for overall development of the Kebang Circle.
The trekking expedition was organized by Paator Gumin Welfare Society and Paator Gumin Heritage & Research Foundation with the sole motive of bringing development to Bangku area.
