ITANAGAR, Dec 14: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) has condemned the Longding rape incident wherein the victim was a ten-year old girl child.
While lauding the Longding Police for nabbing the culprit, the Commission has asked the Superintendent of Police to expedite the investigation and submit chargesheet at the earliest. It has also appealed to the state government to provide compensation to the victim under Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme 2011.
Expressing concern on the recent increase of crime against women and girl children in the state, the Commission has appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the investigation agencies for early delivery of justice to the victims and their families. 
Officer In-charge of Longding Police Station, O Lego informed that the accused has been arrested and is under judicial custody.  The incident occurred on December 6 and was reported on December 9 last,we have registered a case LDG/PS/Case/No-55/2020, he added.
Meanwhile, the Shungkhuh Women Wancho Welfare Society(SWWWS) Pongchau-Wakka while strongly condemning the incident demanded the accused to be booked under stringent section of POCSO Act,2012.
Such kind of scandalous behaviour and dirty mindset is a stigma to the entire society and will be a life threat to the innocent lives if exemplary punishment is not awarded to the culprit whoever he be, the society in a representation addressed to Superintendent of Police, Longding stated.
"The victim has suffered great trauma in addition to horrendous physical and psychological injury due to this tragedy.  At this tender age, the child's life is at risk and she would never overcome this shock and daze in her entire life even if she survives," it stated.
Meanwhile, the society also requested SP to arrest all the other absconding accused involved in such cases in the past to curb child sexual assault and abuse in near future.
The society threatened to launch widespread democratic movement across the district and state as a whole if the authority fails to award stringent punishment to the accused.
The victim is now being treated in Dibrugarh after being referred from CHC Longding owing to the gravity of the injuries caused to the child, it informed.
In a separate, press statement, Ginlong Khasa Students Union (GKSU) has also demanded exemplary punishment as per laid down laws. The heinous crime is against the Law of the Land and also against the moral values and beliefs of our Wancho society and humanity as a whole. Impunity of such a heinous crime would allow social evils to thrive in our society and the nation. It will nurture an environment of fear, terror, injustice and insecurity for the daughters of Wanchonyu in the future, stated the union.
