ITANAGAR, Jun 4: Three more Covid-related deaths including a 14-year old minor girl in the ICR took the state’s Covid casualty toll to 122 on Friday. Recoveries were higher than new infections after almost a week.
The 14-year old minor who tested Covid positive on June 3 died on the same day at DCH Chimpu at around 5 pm due to acute renal failure coupled with Covid pneumonia. A 65-yr old female Covid patient from East Siang district suffering from the comorbidity of hypertension expired at DCH Pasighat on Thursday evening due to Covid pneumonia. Meanwhile, an 84-yr old male Covid patient without any comorbidity died at DCHC Likabali on Thursday evening. In all the above cases, Covid vaccination is nil.
A total of 404 new cases (asymptomatic 259; symptomatic 145) were recorded in the state, which is an increase from the previous day’s 364. Changlang led the chart with 102, followed by the ICR with 52, Namsai 38 and Anjaw 36. Active Covid cases in the state as on Friday evening were 3829. Among the 415  recoveries, ICR, Changlang, Tawang, Lower Subansiri, LDV, West Kameng, East Saing and Lohit were the first 8 districts with 66, 65, 47, 38, 29, 28, 26 and 23 respectively. The state’s discharge tally is now 24835 with these new recoveries. With more stress on Covid testing, sample collection improved further with a total of 8978 collected from across the state on the day.
Vaccination for the 18-44 age group has seen a further acceleration with a total of 9806 beneficiaries taking their 1st shot (8% coverage so far), of which 4073 were in the ICR. A total of 1310 individuals in the 45+ age category were inoculated with dose 1 on the day and the cumulative percentage coverage after Friday’s inoculation was 61% of the target. 10 beneficiaries took their 2nd dose which in terms of cumulative percentage was 14.
Friday evening’s occupancy status at the CCCs - 59 at DCH Chimpu, 34 at SQF Lekhi, 6 at DCHC Midpu, 7 at DCH Pasighat and 26 at DCHC.
