ITANAGAR, July 25: Minister for Environment & Forest, Mama Natung and Mayor of Itanagar Municipal Corporation, Tame Phassang participated in the mega plantation drive being organized by the 138Bn CRPF at Sinki View. The plantation drive was organized as a part of mega plantation initiative taken up by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Director General CRPF at Sohra, Meghalaya.
Appreciating the 138 Bn of CRPF for organizing such event for the clean & green environment, Minister Mama Natung stressed for the preservation of the environment. "We have to learn to preserve our environment for a better future. Though we have 80% forest coverage in our state, but we should continue to preserve the flora and fauna," said Natung.
He also disclosed that the state government has taken an initiative to plant alteast one crore plant in the state. As of now we have planted atleast 20 Lakh saplings and effort is still going on, added Minister while appealing the CRPF jawans to continue the plantation drive to archive the target.
Participating in the event, Mayor, IMC, Tame Phassang said, "People in metropolitan cities are struggling for fresh air due to destruction of environment in their surroundings, such challenges may occurred in our state too if we do not take right decision to protect the environment now." He also appreciated the 138Bn CRPF for organizing such event and assured to extend all kind of support for such programme in days to come.
During the plantation drive at least 1600 fruit bearing and other traditional Indian Plants like Neem, Peepal, Rudhraksh, Bokul, Nahar, Bahera etc were planted in the CRPF campus at Sinki View.
