NEW DELHI, Feb 22: Aiming to project Arunachal Pradesh as a potential hydro powerhouse of the country, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein who is currently on a tour to the national capital today met the Chairman cum Managing Director of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL) (a Central Public Sector Unit) Nand Lal Sharma and his full business development team.
Sharma has shown eagerness to develop hydro power projects up to 15000 MW in Arunachal Pradesh. While emphasizing the development vision of the state with a ‘people first approach’ at the top of any policy decision making, Mein invited them to invest with assurance that all possible assistance will be extended by the state government in this regard as an enabling partner of the development process. SJVNL handed over a written request to the DCM stating their interest and desire, to which Mein responded with a positive note to look into their proposal. It is worth mentioning that SJVNL is Joint Venture company of Government of India & Government of Himachal Pradesh and have a Mini Ratna status.
Besides this, private investor Jindal South West (JSW) Hydro Energy Limited team led by his Vice President P.K. Puri also called on the DCM and submitted their interest in hydro power development in Arunachal. JSW also submitted an Expression of Interest (EoI) for development of a few mega hydro power projects in the state. Earlier, Mein also visited Arunachal Pradesh Food Stall at Oudh, The Ashok in New Delhi. The national capital has geared up to showcase the rich traditional, exotic organic food and aromatic North East cuisines of Arunachal Pradesh from February 21 to 23.
In the 2nd day of three day long food festival Ambassador of Myanmar to India, U. Moung Wai also visited the Arunachal Food Festival where he was greeted with vibrant culture of festivals of the state.
The festival introduced many exotic mouth-watering delicacies to food lovers where they could taste their buds with cherry, tomatoes, spring onions, rich spices, various quality of rice, fish cooked in traditional style, fermented bamboo shoots, local herbs and Chura pa (famous dish in Monpa cuisine). This is an organic fest where minimum amount of oil and fresh spices are used to prepare the food and has seen a number of visitors from all over Delhi including tourists.
