ITANAGAR, Apr 4: Keeping in view of the inhospitable terrain which leads to the four far-flung polling stations under Changlang district, polling teams of these polling stations along with election materials have been airlifted by an IAF- MI-17 in two sorties from Miao to Vijoynogar on Thursday.
The four stations are Ramnagar, Gandhigram, Vijoynagar and Two-Hut under Changlang district. Each team comprised of 1 presiding officer, 4 polling officers, 1 attendant and 2 policemen, a release issued from office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) stated.
According to the release, there are a total of 1504 male and 1677 female voters totalling 3181 electors under the 50-Miao Assembly Constituency which is a part of 2-East Arunachal Parliamentary Constituency.
The personnel assigned for Vijoynagar which is situated at a distance of about 163 km from Miao will trek to their polling stations along with the poll material. All the polling personnel will stay in Vijoynagar till April 10 except Gandigram. The rest will leave on foot for their respective polling station located at distances reachable within 1-4 hours.
It is to be mentioned here that Vijoynagar, one of the remotest circle in the state, wedged between China-Myanmar borders having 16 villages and inhabited by Yobin's tribe lack any form of connectivity.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that eight polling teams of 20-Tali AC and 1 Arunachal West PC which were supposed to be picked up from district headquarter Koloriang in Kurung Kumey district had to be dropped at Piposorang Circle due to inclement weather. DIPR
