NEW DELHI, Sep 25: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein who is also the Minister Power of the state conducted a crucial two-day review meeting with all the large hydropower developers who have been allotted HEPs in the state, here at Arunachal Bhavan on September 24 and 25 last.
The meeting was called to ascertain and address the various issues and problems related to slow progress or stalled hydropower projects in the state. A total of 32 developers attended the meeting. During the detailed discussions, DCM heard various issues & problems of private developers and assured them that state government will provide all possible help in developing the projects. He also requested the developers to speed up the process of these projects and observed that the hydropower is “clean, green, sustainable and also a cheap source of power in the long run” and has a long, useful life. The state government has drawn up plans for putting the hydropower projects under execution on fast track to harness 58160.2 mw of power, he added. The country is endowed with large hydropower reserves with total potential of 145320 MW, out of which Arunachal Pradesh, alone has 58160.2 MW capacity to harness (40% of the total potential of the country), Mein pointed out. CMD NEEPCO was also called to discuss issues related to their projects.
