YUPIA, Sep 26: A meeting to review the implementation  of National Food Security Act in Papum Pare district by the Food & Civil Supplies Department was convened by Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu here at the Conference Hall which was attended by all Fair Price Shop dealers and Carriage Contractors of the district.
DC directed that cost deposits by FPS dealers, doorstep delivery of food grains by Carriage Contractors and distribution to consumers shall be strictly completed within a PDS calendar month. Although the district has achieved Aadhaar linkages of 88% of NFSA Ration cards and 80% in Ration cards, DC directed that 100% Aadhaar seeding of both categories of Ration cards and beneficiaries should be achieved within a month to prevent any curtailment in allocations to the district as mandated by the government.
Aadhaar de-duplication exercise at first level was done by the F&CS department and around 3,000 duplicate or bogus ration cards have been detected. DC directed that these duplicate/bogus beneficiaries shall be issued notice to furnish documents to prove their non-duplicacy within a month failing which their allocation shall be curtailed and new beneficiaries shall be selected in lieu of them. ADC Tabang Bodung requested the FPS dealers to abide by the procedure of NFSA and ensure that genuine beneficiaries get their quota of rations. ADC Sagalee Lowang also assured that local administrative officers are always there to support DF & CS and all stakeholders for proper implementation of NFSA.
DF & CSO Honi Byabang informed that delay in distribution of monthly quota beyond a PDS calendar month causes delay in certifying the distribution in GoI Annavitran portal which may result in delay in release of FPS margin and transportation funds from GoI and the state government.
FPS owners while placing their grievances said that FPS margins should be paid timely and there is little viability in their business due to meagre margins and lack of distribution items like atta, sugar and dal etc. DC assured to forward their grievances to the government. DIPRO
