ITANAGAR, Aug 27: A meeting to discuss the ways and means of improving the health scenario of the state was held today here at State Civil Secretariat, chaired by the Principal Secretary (Health & Family Welfare), GoAP, Dr. A.C Verma and attended by all DMOs.
Various health delivery service issues and constraints of the districts like human resource, infrastructure, availability of medicines & consumables, ambulance services, hearsay vehicles, central drug procurement policy, progress report on MMRKK programme, etc were the highlights of the discussion. During the course of the meeting it was agreed to functionalize all General Hospitals and District Hospitals in a phase-wise manner keeping in mind of the idea of futuristic expansion of the present facilities. Streamlining and rational posting of necessary manpower to fill the HR gaps in many of the facilities, functionalization of blood banks with provision of equipment and other requisites along with correspondence with appropriate authority for issue of blood bank licenses wherever such facilities are lacking were some of the important decisions that were taken.
Furthermore, the meeting decided that five General Hospitals would be notified for upgradation from 120 to 150 bedded and District Hospitals from 50 to 100 bedded, besides ensuring availability of Specialist Doctors, MOs and medical equipment along with improvement of health infrastructure in all facilities in the state, subject to availability of fund.
The meeting was also attended by Director Family Welfare Dr. Allok Yirang and Joint Director (P&D), Directorate of Health Services Dr. Emi Rumi.
