BOLENG, Aug 13: Pangin-Boleng MLA, Ojing Tasing and Deputy Commissioner Siang convened a coordination meeting with the SP S. Singpho, DMO Dr. R. Darung, ADC (Hq.) Gyabo Pertin among others to discuss preparedness for a possible third wave of Covid-19, the circle saturation approach to improve coverage of 1st dose of Covid-19 vaccine by month-end, and management of drug abuse and peddlers.
For implementation of the circle saturation approach, administrative officers-cum-Incident commanders in the district have conducted meetings with Zilla Parishad and Gram Panchayat members, HGBs, and In-charge Covid Vaccination Centres (CVCs) in their jurisdiction for effective coverage of Covid-19 vaccine.
The MLA stated that the district administration, health department, and police personnel must work with vigour and coordination to effectively battle a possible third wave of the pandemic. Emphasis was laid on increasing village-level awareness and education of HGBs/GBs and PRI representatives.
Suggestions were made for creating volunteer units trained by health department to be deployed in villages to effect a behavioural change.
The SP informed that till date no drug case has been registered in the district. Nonetheless, patrolling teams are making regular rounds. The MLA emphasized on the district being “drug-free” with necessary surveillance of drug peddlers to manage incidences of drug abuse. DIPRO
