ITANAGAR, Jan 29: Reacting to media reports on Chinese intrusion and construction of village inside Indian territory in Upper Subansiri district, Chief Minister Pema Khandu today reiterated that the said infrastructure along the McMahon Line has been under China’s control since 1959.
“The news agency which reported the incident has misled the people,” Khandu said, stating however that irrespective of the year of encroachment, it is totally illegal. “Blaming the Narendra Modi-led government now has no logic,” he said while giving an interview to a local news channel. Playing the blame game won’t work, but instead, we have to develop infrastructure and facilities for the villagers and soldiers in our border areas, the Chief Minister said, asserting that under the leadership of Modi the Central government in the last six years has been pumping funds for development of the state’s border areas along with increasing the deployment of soldiers.
Earlier on Thursday, the apex student body of the state, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) organized a sit-in protest against Chinese incursion and for its repeated claims over Arunachal Pradesh. It has also questioned the silence maintained by the State and Central governments over the issue.
