ITANAGAR, Apr 5: The family of Tachuk Padu, who was assaulted by a police official in Mechukha has said that there is no involvement of Speaker of state legislative assembly and MLA PD Sona in the matter and thus people should avoid making it a political issue.
Addressing a press conference, Tali Yorme said that there was a miscommunication between the victim and APLA Speaker PD Sona, who is also the local MLA of the district. However there is no involvement of the MLA in the incident.
Yorme, who is also the BJP Yuva Morcha President of Shi Yomi district appealed not to make the issue political, which ultimately creates misunderstanding and builds differences among own people.
He said the victim's family and the people of Shi Yomi district are so far satisfied over action initiated against accused constable SK Singh for assaulting his brother-in-law of Tachuk Padu. However, the family expects that aside from being suspended and initiating magisterial inquiry, the accused be terminated.
“We are thankful to the district SP and public for the support which led to the suspension and magisterial enquiry of the constable. But if the results of the enquiry are not satisfactory, we will initiate our future course of action,” he added.
Meanwhile, the younger brother of the victim, Taje Padu said that his brother is not guilty and therefore should be delivered justice by initiating stern action against the accused constable for inhuman brutality.
Padu said that his brother was brutally assaulted by police personnel, led by Constable SK Singh, at the Mechukha police station on March 18 while in custody, resulting in serious injuries.
Tachuk Padu is a resident of Padusa village in Shi-Yomi district and also a Gram Panchayat Member (GPM). He was on his way to the MLA's private residence  in Mechuka to get medicine when the incident took place.
