NAHARLAGUN, Aug 9: “Helping each other in distress is the real concept of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav," said Mayor, Itanagar Municipal Corporation, Tame Phassang while expressing concern over the devastation triggered by flash floods in the twin capital on Monday.
Addressing the launching programme of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign at Ward-no.-17, he appealed to everyone to come forward and extend all possible support in cash or kind to the victims of the flash floods. The Mayor also appealed to the Chief Minister, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju who is also the MP(West)  and MLA-Itanagar  to call a special  meeting  to extend  help to those affected.
"The relief amount from the government  is very less and it will not be sufficient,so authorities should take some important measures to help the victims. Moreover, I will also visit the places to know the ground reality and contribute all possible support from my own expenses," Phassang said.
The  Mayor urged the denizens to hoist the national flag at their houses by following the Flag Code.
Hoisting the national flag itself is a proud moment, and to observe the 75th year of India’s Independence, this year the government has allowed the common public to do so. So everyone should avail this opportunity, he added.
