NAHARLAGUN, Mar 18:  Mayor, Itanagar Municipal Corporation Tame Phassang today inaugurated an RCC footbridge connecting G Extension to Polo Park in presence of various corporators and IMC Executive Engineer Tadar Tarang.
Appreciating the contractors and IMC engineers for constructing the bridge adhering to quality parameters, the mayor said that constructing a quality bridge of this kind with minimum funds is a commendable job. “There is no fund crunch in the IMC, but even if there are some issues in future, I will give my full efforts to allocate funds for genuine projects that will help the denizens,” the mayor asserted. Not only bridges, IMC will visit the nook and corner of all wards to identify the denizens’ problems and the corporation’s job is not limited to garbage collection, but in improving the key aspects ranging from schools to health and other basic amenities, he added. The mayor also appealed to the denizens to take proper care of the footbridge that will shorten the distance between Wards 15 and 16 and allow pedestrians to reach the G Extension market area, government offices and hospitals within a short time.
Speaking on the occasion, Ward 16 corporator Tarh Achak informed that the 22-meter long footbridge over Damsite Nalah constructed with a cost of Rs 12 lakh has been completed within months. “It was a long-pending demand of the local denizens. A lady lost her life last summer while trying to cross the river, but now we have a strong RCC footbridge,” he said.
Corporators of Ward 15 Tadar Hanghi and Ward 20 Arun Kipa Loram were also present during inauguration.
