ITANAGAR, Feb 2: The mortal remains of late Matin Dai, the state's first Arunachalee Chief Secretary was laid to rest today near his residence at C sector Itanagar.
State's who’s who attended the last rites. Former Chief Minister Gegong Apang, Chairman Peoples Party of Arunachal Kamen Ringu, MLA Pasighat Kaling Moyong and others paid their tributes to the departed soul.
Matin Dai passed away on Friday (31st January) last following cardiac arrest. Hailing from Balek village of East Siang District, he joined as Base Superintendent now Circle Officer in 1956 and later posted at Bameng, East Kameng as Asst. Political Officer (APO) in 1962.
Dai was inducted to IFAS (Indian Frontier Administrative Service) in 1964 and posted at Seppa, East Kameng. Dai had served as ADC, Tawang in 1972 and Deputy Commissioner of Bomdila in 1974, then Secretary, Revenue and Boundary Affairs from1981-85.
He was the Chief Secretary from 1988 to 1991 and retired as the first Arunachlee Chief Secretary of the state in 1991.
