PASIGHAT, Dec 15: Hailing from Irgo, a small village under Tato Circle in Shi-Yomi district, 22-year old Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Taluk Hili is all set to lock horns against Sagar Kashyap, his rival from Uttar Pradesh on December 19 in the India Pro Fight to be held in Nashik, Maharashtra.
Speaking from Bengaluru, Taluk’s coach-cum-trainer Deepak Rai said after reaching Mumbai, a fitness test will be held on December 18. Rai, who hails from Tripura is also a former national and international fighter and had been trying hard to prepare Taluk for the event who won a bronze in Mumbai Open Championship 2019. “If Taluk wins the India Pro Fight, he will get more chances to compete at international level,” Rai said, informing that his student will also be participating in the Kickboxing Open Championship to be held on December 27 in Tamil Nadu.
It’s worth mentioning that after winning bronze in the Mumbai MMA championship last year, Taluk was selected for training at the Attachai Muaythai Gym, Bangkok which is the gateway for One Championship and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
But financial constraint forced him to drop the trip. Talking to this scribe from the Bengaluru training camp, Taluk said he didn’t get enough sponsorship to participate in the Bangkok training. “Government assistance was not coming at the right time and due to my poor family background I couldn’t fly to Bangkok,” he shared with sorrow. However, he expressed thankfulness to his coach who invited him to Bengaluru that paved the way for a new beginning.

Taluk is a black belt 1st Dan in both kickboxing and taekwondo and dreams to become a successful martial artist and represent Arunachal Pradesh and India in international events like the UFC.
