PIPU /SEPPA, Feb 28: MLA Hayeng Mangfi said that all-round development of Pipu Circle would not be possible without the support of villagers and people of the circle, which has been neglected for many decades.
He said the people of the circle need to change, putting an effort into bringing new projects. He added that the trend of seeking “repairing projects” should end and more focus must be on new schemes and projects for future advancements.
Mangfi, who was attending the Nyokum Yullo celebration at Pipu on Friday, said that his efforts are to bring major development projects to his constituency. “But nothing could be done according to schedule due to the global pandemic,” he said.
“I hope, as the cases of Covid-19 are decreasing and transportation is increasing this year, we can at least see better roads and telecommunication in the constituency,” he added.
Responding to the memorandum submitted by the Nyokum Yullo organising committee for the construction of a new rostrum in the circle, Mangfi assured to work on it as it is his priority for the greater interest of the people.
Attending the celebration as chief guest, Special Project Director (SPD-ISSE) Nangram Pinkap assured to help the people for the overall improvement in the education sector in the circle.
He also requested the people not to mix religion and tradition. Religion is individual but Nyokum festival is our identity, he added.
Meanwhile, East Kameng District Project Coordinator (EK-DPC) Moromi Tang said that the change in providing better education facilities in the circle can only be with the support of the village elders.
She said that the education department will soon launch “Padna Likhna Abhiyaan” for old people. She requested the villagers to make the best use of such programmes.
She also assured to look into the needs of subject teachers in the circle as requested by the people.
Earlier, the legislator also visited the damaged government schools and hostels in the circle.
