YUPIA, Apr 26: Malaria cases has reduced significantly in the last couple of years in Papumpare district thereby leading the health department to stop the indoor residual spray (IRS) this year.
This was informed by the capital District Medical Officer on Thursday as the District Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme Society, Papumpare,observed World Malaria Day with the theme “Zero Malaria Starts with Me” at Government Middle School, Borum.
Cautioning healthcare personnel against complacency which might pose hurdle in achieving the goal of malaria free by 2030, Capital DMO, Dr Mandip Perme also stressed on source reduction in the capital area to control other vector borne diseases.
Earlier, District VBDCP Officer Dr. Tana Aruna informed that District Health Society has been greatly focused on controlling and containing malarial death and other vector borne diseases in the recent years, in and around Rural and Urban Papumpare District. She also called upon healthcare personnel and the public to be aware of the national guideline “Early diagnosis and Complete treatment” to control the spread of malaria. DIPRO
