ITANAGAR, Jul 29: The makeshift COVID-19 Hospital at MLA Apartment, Chimpu will be made functional within the next two weeks, said Health Minister  Alo Libang while visiting the hospital to review the progress of work alongwith Home Minister Bamang Felix, Secretary Health P Parthiban and Director TRIHMS today.
"The health department alongwith engineers are working on a war footing to refurbish the building into a properly equipped COVID-19 Hospital," the health minister told reporters. 
Efforts are being made to start the hospital before two weeks, he added while informing that the hospital will have all facilities with separate wards for male & female, at least 10 ICUs, diagnosis and labour room.
Responding to query regarding health staff and their accommodation, the Minister informed that the upcoming hospital will be taken care of by TRIHMS. "If there is any insufficiency of manpower, the state government will ensure all possible support." Regarding accommodation, the Minister informed that all facilities will be provided inside the apartment.
Reviewing the progress work, Home Minister Bamang Felix expressed his satisfaction and extended gratitude to the health workers for discharging their duty efficiently. 
There will be 10 fully equipped ICUs, NICU room, Operation Theatre, Labour Room, Dialysis room, Oxygen plant in the COVID Hospital.  As of now there are 16-bed each in male and female wards with oxygen and monitor facilities, informed Director TRIHMS, Dr Moji Jini.
The Director further disclosed that if the situation demands, they are well prepared to enhance the hospital to a 400-bed hospital with at least 50-bed ICU.
Further, Dr. Jini also assured that no medical waste will be disposed off without sanitization or outside the apartment. Medical waste will be properly taken care of maintaining all protocols, he stated.
