PAKKE KESSANG, Jan 20: In a swift operation, Pakke Kessang Police arrested the main accused involved in a tragic hit-and-run case that occurred on January 19 last within 13 hours.
The incident took place at around 5:50 PM when an Alto car carrying three passengers, collided with a SUV (Fortuner) between Pakro and Seba villages. The collision left all three occupants of the Alto seriously injured.
The victims were rushed to the District Hospital in Seppa, where one of them, Fehi Tayem of Taroyar Village, was declared brought dead by the Emergency Medical Officers. The two other injured passengers are currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
Following the incident, the body of the deceased was transported to the Community Health Center in Pakke Kessang, where an inquest and post-mortem examination were conducted before the body was handed over to the family.
Both vehicles involved in the accident were seized and towed to the Pakke Kessang Police Station.
A police team led by Inspector Thony Tayeng, along with SI Pato Gami, IO SI H. Rimo, Head Constables Pakge Taluk and Vikash Gyadi, and operating under the supervision of SP Pakke Kessang, Tasi Darang, launched an investigation aided by technical surveillance.
The main accused, Rashok Sonam (47) from Upper Liyak Village, Bameng, East Kameng District, was arrested in record time.
SP Tasi Darang commended the police team for their prompt action and urged commuters to exercise vigilance and adhere to traffic rules to prevent such tragic incidents. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
