ITANAGAR, Oct 20: The Arunachal Tug-of-War Association (ATWA) announced its first  state level tug-of-war championship to be held from December 2 to 5 next at Nyokum Lapang general ground in the state capital.
President ATWA, Nili Likha Kamin informed this in a press conference held at the press club on Wednesday.
“The motive of the championship is to promote the sport in the state similar to other games," said Kamin, informing that ATWA is affiliated with ‘Tug-of-War Federation of India’.
General secretary Dolang John Dui said, “We are expecting around 400 participants from 14 affiliated districts of the state participating in three categories”.
The championship will have categories of senior, junior of both men and women, senior and junior mix, and an open competition in which a team from any organization, department, university and colleges can participate, not necessarily a district based team, he added.
The association appealed to all the participating teams to submit list of participants and their details including coach and manager.
